At 3 p.m. Oct. 30, TFC P. Trossbach observed a vehicle traveling northbound on Golden Beach Road in Charlotte Hall which appeared to be traveling faster than the 30 mph speed limit. After determining the vehicle was traveling 44 mph with radar, TFC Trossbach turned around to initiate a traffic stop and the vehicle quickly accelerated and turned onto Beach Drive.
The vehicle was stopped at Beach Drive and Wilson Drive. After back up arrived, contact was made with the driver, Antonio J. R. Washington-Paige, 18, of Mechanicsville.  During conversation with Paige a strong odor of burnt marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle by the officer. A probable cause search was conducted and a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana was found under the driver’s seat. Paige was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, pending a bail review.
