A Clements man has entered a guilty plea to “conspiracy to possess marijuana with the intent to distribute.” Melvin J. Price, Jr., 31, entered the plea Tuesday in St. Mary’s County Circuit Court before newly appointed Judge David Densford. The judge accepted the plea and ordered a pre-sentence investigation.

A four-count indictment was issued against Price in May of last year stemming from an alleged incident in January of 2011. One of the counts in the indictment charged possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.
In court on Tuesday the state represented by States Attorney Richard Fritz, agreed to an amended count that led to the plea. The other three counts will apparently be disposed of at the time of sentencing at a later date.
