The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of more than 100 vases from gravesites at Trinity Memorial Gardens and Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
The thefts occurred on Sept. 21 and Sept. 24. The suspect(s) entered Trinity Memorial Gardens, located at 3221 Mattawoman Beantown Road in Waldorf, and stole the bronze vases, which had been attached to headstones.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating and has received information concerning similar incidents in other jurisdictions. The apparent motive for this theft is the resale of the vases as scrap metal. Businesses that deal in scrap metal are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office with information about anyone who attempts to sell these vases.
Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of the suspect(s) involved in this crime. To report a tip, call 1-866-411 TIPS. All callers may remain anonymous.
