ANNAPOLIS, MD –Governor-elect Larry Hogan announced one Cabinet appointee and six senior officials during a press conference Tuesday, Jan. 13 in Annapolis.

Among the appointees announced was Tim Hutchins as Director of Homeland Security. Hutchins, who resides in Port Tobacco, previously represented Charles County in the Maryland House of Delegates. He also served in the Ehrlich Administration, first as Veterans Affairs secretary and then as superintendent of the Maryland State Police. Hutchins grew up in Calvert County. He is the third former member of the Southern Maryland Delegation to be appointed to the Hogan Cabinet. Van Mitchell was appointed Department of Health and Mental Hygiene secretary and George W. Owings III was selected as Department of Veterans’ Affairs secretary.

Hogan also announced Pete Rahn as Secretary of Transportation. Rahn served as cabinet secretary for the New Mexico State Highway and Transportation Department from 1995 to 2002 and led the Missouri State Department of Transportation from 2004 to 2010.

Other appointments announced were Senator Christopher Shank as director of the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention, Steve McAdams as executive director of the Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives, Arlene Lee as executive director of the Governor’s Office for Children, Bob Scholz as governor’s counsel, Delegate Keiffer Mitchell as special adviser to the governor, and Delegate Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio as director of Intergovernmental Services.
