On Saturday, December 3, 2011, supporters flooded the Dr. James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center for the 4th Annual St. Mary’s Hospice Festival of Trees. This has become an annual event where supporters can come and bid on sponsored Christmas trees from around the county as well as see local craft vendors. The proceeds of this event went to support the St. Mary’s County Hospice House which was build two years ago at a cost of $2.3 million. The house is currently at an 80% occupancy. The hospice house has put out an estimated $146,000 of free and reduced priced care for those that need it and can not afford it, and this is one of the ways that they it possible to provide this care.
