A fire late Wednesday night destroyed a garage and caused damage to an attached house in Colton’s Point. Investigators from the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office say the incident remains under investigation.
A neighbor to the home on Beach Road alerted the occupants of the fire. It took 40 firefighters from the Seventh District, Leonardtown, Mechanicsville and Hollywood volunteer fire department 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control.
The home is owned by Ernest and Agnes Friess. Damage is estimated at $80,000 to the structures and $10,000 to the contents.
According to Deputy Fire Marshall Caryn McMahon the fire completely destroyed the garage and then spread to the one-story house and two vehicles, a Ford F150 and a Ford Crown Victoria.
Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Southern Region at 443-55-6831.
