On a cold but sunny November 11th crowds of locals and visitors filled the town square at Leonardtown by 10 am. Tiny children sat on the curbs waving American flags from miniature fists, and older sisters sported similar flags from patriotic ponytails and coifs.
The parade they came to see was possibly the biggest Veterans’ Day parade in the state. There were over 5,000 people participating in the parade through Leonardtown, including brownies and scouts, Red Cross, fire fighters, navy, and local high schools. One special highlight this year was the Clydesdales that are currently traveling the country as part of Anheuser-Busch’s “Here’s To the Heroes Tour 2005.”
