Donald Richard Watson, 72, of Waldorf, MD passed away on February 12, 2022 in the comfort of his home.

Donald was born on September 11, 1949 to Richard Wesley Watson and Doris Elva Watson in Washington, D.C. After graduating from Suitland High School in 1967, he went on to study Computer Technology at Prince George’s County Community College where he received his Associate’s degree.

After graduation, he landed his first job as a Computer Operator for Goddard Space Flight Center. He ended his 30+ professional career as a Systems Database Manager. In October of 1975, he met Marjorie Watson. They wed in April of 1976 and went on to have two children, Steven and Kelly.

After retiring in April of 2016, Donald spent his time with family and friends. He and Marjorie volunteered their time delivering Meals on Wheels, having game nights with family and friends, going to the movies, and going to the casino whenever he could. He also enjoyed spending time in his favorite chair watching his favorite TV shows and movies: Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Star Trek, and Golden Girls. Donald is survived by his wife Marjorie Watson of Waldorf, MD; his son Steven Watson of Waldorf, MD; his daughter Kelly Watson of Waldorf, MD and her partner Andrew Lee of LaPlata, MD; his grandson Jordan Lee; his grand puppy Frederick Lee Watson; and all of his life long friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, Richard Wesley Watson and Doris Elva Watson, his brother Ronald Wesley Watson, and his sister Joyce Elva Ladik.

The family will be accepting family and friends for his Memorial Gathering on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A. at 30195 Three Notch Rd, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with his Memorial Service starting at 3:00 p.m. officiated by Iggy Stefanski.

Interment will be private.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers please make a donation in Donald’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
