Huntingtown, MD – The controversial sign was removed Friday afternoon, May 11. It was replaced by an “Evans for Sheriff” campaign sign.

Prince Frederick, MD – The Calvert County Republican Central Committee has issued the following statement regarding a billboard–visible from northbound Route 2/4 in the area of Bowie Shop Road. There have been several reports stating that the person who posted the sign has agreed to take it down. As of late Thursday afternoon, May 10, the sign was still up.

Regarding the sign on Route 4 by Bowie Shop Road:

Although placed by a private individual and not by the Calvert County Republican Central Committee (CCRCC), we feel compelled to offer our thoughts on this matter. While we recognize and respect both the First and Second Amendment rights of people to speak freely and bear arms, we do not condone violence or threats of violence against those with whom we may disagree. The message of this sign does not represent the conservative values of the CCRCC or our community as a whole. The CCRCC unequivocally condemns this sign in the strongest possible terms.
