Sheriff’s Office Patrol Units responded to a private residence in Hollywood on Monday, January 27  for the report of a subject involved in a domestic disturbance and armed with multiple firearms. Upon arrival patrol units were able to secure the scene and take the suspect into custody. The Criminal Investigations Division was contacted and detectives assumed the investigation.

During the investigation it was determined suspect Kyle J. Flynn, age 22, of Hollywood, Maryland was involved in a domestic situation with his girlfriend when he retrieved a shotgun from inside the residence and fired one shot through the rear door of the residence placing the victim in fear for her safety. 

The victim retrieved her young child and fled the residence. Flynn exited the residence and began shooting additional shots at two other victims who were in a motor vehicle near the driveway. Flynn confronted by the victim’s father, who had arrived at the residence, and fired a shot in his direction. 

Flynn re-entered the residence and returned a shot time later armed with a handgun. The victim’s father was able to disarm Flynn and take him to the ground. The weapon was secured until police arrived.

Detectives executed a search and seizure warrant at the residence and Crime Lab Technicians recovered multiple items of evidence related to the incident.

Flynn was arrested, transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, charged with 4 counts of Assault 1st Degree, 4 counts of Reckless Endangerment, 2 counts of 2nd Degree Assault and Use of a Handgun in the Commission of a Felony.
