At 12:45 a.m. June 3, St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Deputy T. Bowles responded to a residence in Great Mills for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Investigation by Deputy Bowles revealed the female victim and suspect David T. Knott, 22, of California, were involved in a verbal dispute which escalated into a physical altercation.

Knott allegedly struck the victim several times in the face with his fist and grabbed the victim around the neck choking her, police say. Knott then proceeded to obtain the keys to the victim’s vehicle and fled the area.

A short time later Knott telephoned the Emergency Communication Center and advised he wished to turn his self in.  Knott was located, placed under arrest, charged with Assault second degree, Theft of a Motor Vehicle and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
