LA PLATA, MD – Dog lovers and their families are invited to celebrate all things dog at the 5th annual Maryland DogFest. The two-day event will be held on May 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Charles County Fairgrounds in La Plata, Maryland. All leashed dogs are invited to attend with their owners.

From entertainment to dog adoptions to quality, dog-related exhibitors, Maryland DogFest has something for dog lovers of all ages.

Returning to Maryland DogFest this year is the popular comedy act, “Mutts Gone Nuts”. This husband and wife duo have used their past experiences in physical comedy and circus arts to create a unique show where the audience is to “expect the unexpected”.

New to Maryland DogFest is the fast-paced lure chasing course aimed at letting a dog be a dog. Lure chasing is a popular sport where a dog chases a mechanically operated lure around a large fenced area. The course will be open for all dogs to try at their own pace.

Other events and activities include performances by the award-winning Jersey Disc Devil Dogs, an agility course, canine demonstrations, weight pulling, training exhibits, and paw painting.

The Main Stage will host a variety of family-friendly, interactive shows and contests. Events include a dog and owner look-a-like contest, Dogs Got Talent competition, doggy fashion show, training seminars, and a costume contest.

Dozens of vendors specializing in an assortment of dog-related products and services will also be at the event.

Maryland DogFest is a proud supporter of adoption as the first choice when looking for a new pet. Last year, more than 100 dogs were adopted at the event. Rescue, shelter, and adoption groups will be on hand in the Adoption Zone to assist individuals who are looking to add a new member to their family.

Opportunities are still available for dog-related vendors and non-profit and rescue groups to showcase their businesses at Maryland DogFest. Interested exhibitors or non-profit and rescue groups should submit their information online.

Tickets can be purchased at the gates of the event and are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-12. Children four-years-old and under and dogs are admitted for free. Ample parking is available onsite, free of cost.  In celebration of the 5th anniversary of the event, tickets will also be given away in the weeks leading up to the event through the Maryland DogFest Facebook page.
