Update – The fire was determined to be accidental as a result of a malfunction in the engine compartment of the 2011 Kia Sorento. The fire burned undiscovered for an extended period of time spreading to a total of 15 vehicles in the salvage yard.
WALDORF, Md. – On January 12 at approximately 4:38 a.m., firefighters responded to a call for an undetermined fire located on Billingsley Road of Charles County. When units arrived, they discovered multiple automobiles on fire. Crews from the Waldorf, Laplata, Hughesville, Bryan’s Road and Bel Alton volunteer fire departments responded and controlled the fire. Authorities are investigating.
