SOUTHERN MARYLAND — The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for Southern Maryland and portions of King George County, Virginia, ahead of potentially dangerous road conditions on Friday, January 21.

“Patchy Ice Expected Early Friday Morning…” the alert said. “Temperatures will fall into the teens and low 20s tonight. This will result in patchy ice from the lingering moisture on roadways from Thursday evening/s rain/snow across southern MD and into King George County, VA.

Early morning motorists should use caution and consider that any surface appearing to be wet may in fact be icy.”

This is a developing story. We will continue to monitor weather and road conditions going into the overnight hours and early morning.

At this time, proceed with caution on the roads tomorrow morning.

  1. How about all of that PREDICTED snow we got yesterday? They said: 1″-3″ will fall here then freeze and stay with us for a few days. NOT ONE FLAKE FELL HERE! Maybe if they start fining meteorologists for incorrect snow predictions…
