On Dec. 27 at 1:27 a.m., a Charles County Sheriff’s officer initiated a traffic stop in the 600 block of Charles Street in La Plata after observing a violation.
The officer determined the driver, Michael Anthony Hilton Jr, 22 of Mechanicsville, was intoxicated.
As the officer placed Hilton under arrest, Hilton spit on the officer and kicked the side of the officer’s car. Hilton was subdued and charged with DWI, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
