Indian Head, MD— On Nov. 2 at 1:02 a.m., officers responded to a liquor store in the 4600 block of Indian Head Highway in Indian Head for the report of an intrusion alarm. When officers arrived, they noticed broken glass and blood by the front window.
Surveillance footage showed the suspect entering the store and stealing cigarettes and liquor. He was wearing a bright orange coat, and it was apparent he injured his hand. Officers canvassed the area and learned the suspect might be at a local hotel.
Further investigation revealed someone matching the suspect’s description had just entered one of the hotel rooms. Officers subsequently obtained a search warrant for the room where they located the suspect, Howard Bernard Dent, 49, of Temple Hills.
They also recovered evidence linking Dent to the burglary. A computer check revealed Dent had an open warrant in another county. Dent, who was charged with burglary and theft, is being held at the Charles County Detention Center. Officer A. Bringley is investigating.
