LEONARDTOWN, Md. – On Tuesday, January 1 at 12:38 a.m., The Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department was alerted for the motor vehicle accident on Sunnyside Road.
While in route units were advised they were getting reports the vehicle was now on fire but believe the occupant was out. Chief 1 arrived a short time later with a vehicle into a tree on fire and confirmed the single occupant was out of the vehicle.
The squad crew made quick work of the fire and the patient was transported to PG Shock Trauma with non-life threatening injuries.
This incident was the first call for the Leonardtown VFD and the first fire call of the New Year for St. Mary’s County.
