The Charles County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man in connection with a burglary that occurred early this morning in Waldorf. Sheriff Rex W. Coffey said the victim’s call to police was crucial to responding officers who were able to quickly locate the suspect and link him to the crime.

On April 29 at 3:39 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 700 block of Brandon Circle in Waldorf. The victim reported she was inside her house when she heard a noise and saw the suspect standing in her bedroom doorway. The victim screamed and the suspect fled out of the house, dropping a pair of earphones.

The victim immediately called police and provided a description of the suspect. As Officer D. Walker arrived on the scene, he observed a male matching the suspect’s description walking away from the house. Officer Walker linked the earphones found inside the victim’s home and other evidence to the suspect, Keith Michael Lemons, 21, of Waldorf. Lemons was subsequently arrested and charged with burglary.
