Charles County Sheriff’s officers observed one vehicle strike another at the Icon, 2106 Crain Highway in Waldorf, on June 20. Officers attempted to stop one of the vehicles, but its driver, who appeared to be intoxicated, refused, and the vehicle fled into Prince George’s County via state Route 301.

During the pursuit, the vehicle struck a police cruiser, but the officer driving was not injured. The pursuit continued northbound on Branch Avenue until the pursued vehicle crashed through a fence at Andrews Air Force Base before coming to a stop. The two occupants fled the vehicle on foot.

Sheriff’s officers, a K9 team, a Maryland State Police helicopter and the defense force at the base searched for the suspects. They were located on the base at about 7 a.m. while knocking on a resident’s door.

The suspects were identified as Dominique Turman, 20, and Reginald Paul Sweet, 21, of Washington, D.C. They were detained by police at Andrews Air Force base and will be charged federally with trespassing. Traffic charges are pending against them in Charles County.
