St. Mary’s County Police along with rescue units responded to the scene of an accident involving two school buses near the intersection of Great Mills Road and Chancellors Run Road in Lexington Park shortly before 3 p.m. on Feb. 26.
Investigation reveals Bus # 646 struck Bus # 626, both transporting students from Great Mills High School. The buses were fully loaded with children. No injuries have been reported. Bus # 626 suffered minor damage to the mirror on the bus. Bus # 646 left the scene and had little or no damage.
While emergency officials (Lexington Park Rescue Squad) were en route to the accident scene with lights and sirens on, A third bus, Bus # 525 was in front of the ambulance and neglected to pull over because the driver was on her cell phone. The school board has been notified.
Bus #626 is owned by the Kessler Bus Line and Bus #646 is owned by Kessler Bus Service, LLC.
No word if any charges have been made.
