WALDORF, Md. – Two occupants, along with 3 dogs, were able to escape safely from a house fire last night without injuries.

At approximately 8:25 p.m., on May 27, firefighters responded to the structure fire on 3000 Block of Heathcote Road in Waldorf. The smoke alarm was activated in the upstairs bedroom where the fire originated and alerted the home owners.

Firefighters had the fire under control in about 15 minutes. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was notified and requested to the scene to investigate the cause.

The occupants are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The estimated structure loss is approximately $40,000.00 and contents of $10,000.00

The Fire Marshals investigation indicates that the fire was accidental from a electrical event.
