A 2002 Volkswagen Passat, not the actual vehicle involved in the incident
Huntingtown, MD – A motor vehicle that was reported stolen was discovered on fire early Friday morning, April 14 in Calvert County, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the incident occurred sometime after 2 a.m. on Plum Point Road in Huntingtown. A passerby discovered the 2002 Volkswagen Passat. Six firefighters were dispatched to the blaze and brought under control in one minute.
“The vehicle was reported stolen from the District of Columbia,” a deputy fire marshal’s report stated. The vehicle’s owner is identified by authorities as Stanley Evans.
The Passat sustained $5,000 damage in the fire, which remains under investigation. It has not been determined where the fire originated. No injuries were reported.
