Police were scouring the downtown Leonardtown area Thursday afternoon for the perpetrator of a reported strong-armed robbery in front of First National Bank on Washington Street in Leonardtown.
Police quickly apprehended a juvenile who fled from officers seconds after the robbery was reported by a female victim who said a black male on a bicycle ripped a bank deposit bag from her hands.
Minutes later police brought that first suspect to the victim, who told police that was not the person who grabbed the bag from her hands shortly after 2 p.m.
As of 3 p.m. police were still searching the downtown area of Leonardtown, including Duke Street.
The suspect was described as a black male in a white tee shirt wearing a baseball cap, who was riding a red BMX-style bicycle. The bank bag reportedly contained $126.
Police near the scene located more than one red bicycle in surrounding neighborhoods.
