UPDATED – NAME RELEASED – from Calvert County Sheriff’s Office 2 p.m.

PRINCE FREDERICK, MD – On July 3, at approximately 09:09 a.m., the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and Maryland State Police (MSP) units were dispatched to an overturned single vehicle automobile crash on Sixes Road just west of Route 2/4.

Upon arrival, units observed a blue 2015 Subaru station wagon, lying on its driver’s side partially supported by the guardrail. The vehicle had struck the guardrail while travelling eastbound on Sixes Road. The vehicle dislodged several guardrail support posts which caused the vehicle to flip onto its driver-s side.

The driver of the vehicle was identified by her Maryland driver’s license as Laura Jeffery Johnson of Prince Frederick. Johnson was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was trapped inside the vehicle. The driver’s door was pinned against the guardrail which would not allow access to Johnson.

Crews from the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department and Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad worked vigorously to remove the roof of the vehicle and extracted Johnson. She received on-scene medical care and was transported to the landing site via ambulance.

Johnson was airlifted to Prince George’s County Shock Trauma Center by MSP Trooper 2.

Due to the extent of her injures, investigating deputies were not able to speak with Johnson to determine what caused her to drive off of the roadway.

Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact Deputy Buck of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office at 410-535-2800.
