UPDATE 6 A.M. Dec. 17
On December 16, at approximately 6:55 a.m., a 1999 School Bus driven by Torri Lavore Hall, 31 of Lexington Park, was eastbound on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park, when a 1999 Dodge truck driven by William Woodley Dyson, 55 of Lexington Park, failed to yield the right of way and pulled from Prather’s Drive into the path of the school bus causing a collision.
Five children ranging in ages from 6 years old to 13 years old were on the bus at the time of the collision. All five children and Torri Hall were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital by ambulance.
William Dyson was flown to Prince George’s Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police Trooper 7 helicopter.
UPDATE 8:15 A.M. – At approximately 6:57 a.m. on Dec. 16, police and emergency crews responded to 21501 Great Mills Road for an accident involving a school bus and a truck. Witnesses report that the driver of the truck pulled out in front of the school bus causing a T-bone collision.
The driver of the truck was trapped and had to be extracted from the vehicle before being flown by Trooper 7 to PG Shock Trauma. Six people on the bus were treated and transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with non life threatening injuries. More detail to follow as information is released by authorities.
UPDATE 7:40 A.M. – Great Mills Road is shut down in the eastbound direction from Prather Road. Traffic is being diverted around the scene. Emergency crews are on the scene treating multiple injuries. The extent of injuries are not known at this time. More information to follow as it becomes available.
Dec. 16, 7:19 a.m. – There has been a school bus accident on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park. TBN is heading toward the scene and details will be provided as soon as they are available. No information is available at this time as to how serious the accident or if there are any injuries.
