ANNAPOLIS, Md. – On July 28, 2018 at approximately 0248 hours, Senior Trooper Turpin responded to Maryland Route 2 (Ritchie Highway) at U.S. Route 50 for a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles.

Senior Trooper Turpin made contact with the at-fault driver who was identified as Tiffany Renee Johnson, 33, of Annapolis, Maryland. While speaking with Johnson, Senior Trooper Turpin detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath. Johnson refused to perform all field sobriety tests. Due to her impairment, Johnson was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and placed in the front passenger seat of Senior Trooper Turpin’s patrol vehicle. Before Senior Trooper Turpin could get around to the driver’s side of his patrol vehicle, Johnson began kicking the front windshield causing it to partially shatter. Johnson was transported to the Annapolis Barrack for initial processing and refused to submit to any further tests.

Johnson was charged with several traffic violations including driving under the influence of alcohol and charged criminally with malicious destruction of property under $1,000. She was transported to the Anne Arundel County Commissioner’s Office where she was released on her own recognizance.
