La Plata, MD – Edna Renee Lyles, 38 of La Plata, was facing Charles County Circuit Court Judge Helen I. Harrington Monday, Sept. 14 for violating probation on counterfeiting document charges.
Charles County Assistant State’s Attorney Tiffany Campbell told Harrington that Lyles was before her for failing to report, failure to pay restitution and failure to obtain her GED as ordered by the court.
She originally pled to a lesser charge of issuing private documents Jan. 11, 2011 while most of the counterfeiting charges were Nolle Prosequi.
Charles County Assistant Public Defender Allison Heldreth told Harrington that her client had a significant thing happen on the way to fulfill her court obligations.
“She had a child July 7,” Heldreth said. “For one month she wasn’t working.
“She has been working at the Marriott in Waldorf since August,” she explained. “She has hospital bills to pay and she has just gone back to work very recently.”
Campbell said the state’s attorney’s office has received no payments of restitution since June.
The probation agent told Harrington that her office needs information on Lyles’ employment.
“The defendant told you she has gotten a job but she has not provided verification of that to the probation office,” the agent noted.
Harrington told Lyles that she needs to be paying at least $25 toward restitution every other week and that her sentencing would be postponed until Oct. 30.
