James William (Jim) Byus, Sr., 79 of Leonardtown, MD passed away on December 8, 2020 at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD.
He was born on January 9, 1941 in Cambridge, MD to the late Thomas Byus and Ruby Bell Byus.
Jim was married to Karen Joan Byus for 49 wonderful years. He was a hard worker and worked at the fish wharf since he was 15 years old. Later he bought a boat for $1.00 and ran a produce stand from it. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing and spending time on his boat. He was a great dancer and liked to take rides in his convertible. Family was a priority and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and pets.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Karen Joan Byus of Leonardtown, MD; his children: James William Byus, Jr. of California, MD, Kevin Byus (Florida) and Robert Byus (Suzanne) of Bushwood, MD; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Ellen Nelson, Charlotte Griffith, Tommy Byus and John Byus.
Family will receive friends for Jim’s Life Celebration on Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., with a Funeral Service celebrated at4:00 p.m. by Reverend Joe Orlando, at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Interment will be private.
