Charles William “Chuck” Embach, 68, of St. Inigoes, MD died October 18, 2007 in Washington Hospital Center. Born June 10, 1939 in San Francisco, CA he was the son of the late Matthew Philip and Kathryn Emerson Embach, Jr. He was the loving husband of Linda Lillian Chapman Embach whom he married in Leonardtown, MD. He is survived by his children: Charles W. Embach, Jr. of Parker, CO, Kasondra L. Embach of Hollywood, MD, Robert L. Silver of Tucson, AZ, Kevin D. Silver of California, MD and Wendy L. Kozina of Bainbridge Island, WA, sister Betty Wall of KY and 5 grandchildren. He was a preceded in death by his brother Bobby Embach. Mr. Embach moved to St. Mary’s County in October 1981 from Norfolk, VA. He was employed as a computer specialist for the Naval Air Warfare Center, retiring on January 2, 1998. He entered in the U.S. Navy in May 1959 and served for 26 years, retiring in June 1985. Chuck was stationed in the following locations: May 1959- July 1959 Naval Training Center, San Diego, CA, August 1959-July 1960 NATTC, Memphis, TN, July 1960 – August 1961 NAS North Island, San Diego, CA, December 1961-May 1963 VP 50 MCAF, Iwakuni, Japan, July 1963- December 1964 VP 48 NAS, North Island, CA, January 1965-December 1967 VX-1 NAS, Key West, FL, January 1968-December 1970 VP19 NAS, Moffett Field, CA, January 1974- July 1974 VP30 NAS, Patuxent River, MD, July 1974-May 1978 VP 17 NAS, Barbers Point, HI, May 1978-October 1981 NAS, Norfolk, VA, October 1981-May 1985 VX-1 NAS, Patuxent River, MD. He fought in the Vietnam War and accrued the following honors during his career; Air Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation with Bronze Star, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Battle “E” Efficiency Ribbon with Silver E, Good Conduct Award (5th award), National Service Defense Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation and Republic of Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of Police, the American Legion Post 255, VFW-Veterans of Foreign War and the Fleet Reserve Association. His hobbies included helping senior citizens at the American Legion, HAM radio operations and repair, computers, financial operations for American Legion Post 255, group social events with friends and family as well as being an NFL and NASCAR enthusiast. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home , Leonardtown, MD where the American Legion Post 255 of Ridge, MD will recite prayers at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 9:30 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bill Nickerson officiating. A graveside service will follow at Maryland Veteran’s Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD at 11:00 AM with Full Military Honors. Contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 255, P.O.
