Calvert County, MD — It was a busy week for the Calvert County Sheriff’s Department.ย During the week of August 12, eighteen deputies of the Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office responded to 1,432 calls for service, including a traffic stop that led to a drug arrest, the theft of a coin collection, and even money orders stolen from the post office.

Damaged Property: 19-46993
On August 12, 2019 Deputy Anderson responded to Birch Drive in Huntingtown for the report of damaged property. The complainant advised on August 11th at 5:00 PM he noticed the driverโ€™s side rear window of his vehicle was shattered. The value of damaged property is approximately $200.

Theft: 19-46914
On August 12, 2019 Deputy Spalding responded to Hollidge Road in Lusby for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between August 11th at 1:00 PM and August 12th at 7:30 AM an unknown suspect(s) went through the center console and glove box of her vehicle and stole approximately $50.

On August 12, 2019 Deputy Anderson responded to Old Adelina Road in Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between August 8th and August 12th an unknown suspect(s) stole 6 rare coins from his collection. The estimated value of stolen coins is $75.32.


Theft: 19-46987
On August 12, 2019 Deputy Sampson responded to the Marriott Springhill Suites in Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM an unknown suspect(s) stole $100 from her purse while it was left unattended in the laundry room.


Theft: 19-47227
On August 13, 2019 Deputy Anderson responded to the Port Republic Post Office for the report of a theft. The complainant advised around 3:45 PM an employee noticed approximately 96 money orders were missing. The money orders were blank when they were stolen.


Theft: 19-48004
On August 17, 2019 Deputy Anderson responded to the 7-Eleven in Prince Frederick for the report of a theft. The complainant advised he left his wallet in the store after making a purchase. When he went back to retrieve his wallet, it was gone. Surveillance video shows an older white male pick up the victimโ€™s wallet and place it in his pocket before leaving the store. The value of the wallet is approximately $120.


ARRESTS:
On August 14, 2019 Deputy Rzepkowski conducted a traffic stop on Southern Maryland Boulevard at Doris Drive in Owings. Calvert Emergency Communications advised the driver, Carlton Eugene Baldwin (35), had an active warrant through the Harford County Sheriffโ€™s Office. Baldwin was removed from the vehicle and detained. A search of the vehicle revealed a glass smoking pipe with burnt residue, two cut straws with white powder residue and a small vial with white powder residue. Baldwin was placed under arrest and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession of Paraphernalia and served his warrant.

On August 16, 2019 Deputy R. Shrawder responded to the Tiki Bar in Solomons for the report of a male arguing with a female outside of the business. While attempting to locate the subjects, Deputy Shrawder observed a fight in the middle of the street involving the male subject he was looking for, Sheldon Taylor Shaw (26), with the female standing close by. Shaw refused to place his hands behind his back and continued to resist as he was being handcuffed. He was completely uncooperative while receiving medical treatment and refused to get into the patrol vehicle. Shaw was placed in the jail van and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting/Interfering with Arrest, Failure to Obey Reasonable/Lawful Order, Trespassing on Private Property and Second Degree Assault.
