The Calvert County Commissioners saluted two employees during their Tuesday, July 15 meeting. Pamela Pierce and Connie Sutton were honored for being named the employees of the month for June and July respectively.
Pierce, who has worked for the county government for 20 years, works as a clinical supervisor at Calvert Substance Abuse Services.
โRecently, the program director resigned and due to Pamelaโs abilities she was asked by upper management to be the acting program director,โ a memo from Employee Recognition Committee Chair Kim Gott stated. โHer responsibilities have doubled, however, she continues to provide quality supervision while overseeing the program.โ
โHer leadership is exemplary,โ said Calvert Substance Abuse Services Office Manager Maritrese Briscoe Nash.
โHer leadership is exemplary,โ said Calvert County Health Officer Dr. Larry Polsky.
โShe just quietly does a good job,โ said Commissioner Susan Shaw [R], adding that she has known Pierce for several years. โWe donโt take that for granted.โ
Sutton, who works for the Department of General Services in the Division of Natural Resources, serves as the manager for Flag Ponds Nature Park.
According to a memo from Gott, Sutton responded to a call last year โfor new and innovative projects that would more fully utilize the resources of the countyโs nature parks and promote the missionโ of the division. Suttonโs idea was to host an event featuring artwork inspired by โthe natural beauty of Southern Maryland.โ
She worked with the Battle Creek Nature Education Society and county government to make the event successful.
โIt was awesome,โ said artist Margaret Dowell.
Natural Resources Division Chief Karyn Molines praised Sutton for โthe risk she took bringing up a new initiative.โ
