Police and rescue volunteers were dispatched to a vehicle crash at 9:24 p.m. Monday on Cracklingtown Road in Hughesville.

The 18-year-old operator of a car lost control, and went off the left side of the road, and crashed into a tree at the woods line.

Jesse Douglas Daniel, of Waldorf, was alone in the vehicle. There were no obvious skid marks visible on the pavement after the crash.

Hughesville Volunteer Fire and EMS freed Daniel from the crumpled car and treated him in preparation for a helicopter flight to Prince Georges Hospital.  Maryland State Police helicopter Trooper 2 landed near the scene.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office reports that speed is considered a contributing factor in the crash.
