Services announced for former St. Mary’s County Sheriff Wayne Pettit
Mattingly – Gardiner Funeral Home, 41590 Fenwick Street, Leonardtown, has announced arrangements for former St. Mary’s County Sheriff Wayne L. Pettit, who died Friday, Nov. 21, 2014.
Visitation will be at Mattingly-Gardiner Funeral Home Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 4:30-8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m.
Services will take place Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. at First Saints Community Church (St. Paul’s), 25550 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown. Interment will follow at First Saints Community Church Cemetery.
Former St. Mary’s County Sheriff Wayne Pettit passed away Friday morning. Pettit’s death was reported on his son Doug’s Facebook page.
Pettit, a former Maryland State Police trooper, was sheriff for three terms from 1982 to 1994. Pettit’s farm is in Maddox.
