Ileen Marion Bosta, age 101, of Alexandria, VA passed away peacefully on August 14, 2016 at the Sunrise at George Mason in Fairfax, VA.
Ileen was born on April 27, 1915 in Virden, Manitoba, Canada. She was the daughter of the late Edward Albert Mooney and Sarah Maude McPhaden Mooney.
Ileen is survived by her daughters, Linda Hulick and Susan Mazuc (John), son in-law, Jerry Hulick, 4 granddaughters and 6 great grandchildren.
Ileen is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Eberle Bosta; her brothers, Gordon, Norman, Jack and sisters, Kathleen Boyd, Dorothy Curran, Gladys Mooney and an infant sister.
Ileen attended business college in Winnipeg, Canada and worked for Monarch Life Insurance before answering a 1943 newspaper advertisement recruiting Canadians for employment in Washington, DC for the British Missions during WWII. Ileen started working for the British Air Commission on Massachusetts Avenue. In 1944, she met Nick and they were married in 1948. In 1953 they moved from Racine, Wisconsin back to Washington, DC and then later to the Virginia suburbs.
Ileen enjoyed spending time in the garden, especially caring for her award winning Garden Club Roses, sewing for her daughters and their dolls and taking vacations to the beach with her family.
In her later years, Ileen lived at the Wildewood Retirement Village in Southern Maryland where she enjoyed painting, crafts and Bible study. She made many friends including the staff.
A private family service will be held on August 27, 2016 in Alexandria, VA.
