At 9:57 a.m. Oct. 28, TFC S. Van Bennekum of the Leonardtown barracks responded to Spring Ridge Middle School, Lexington Park, for an out of control student.
Investigation revealed that a 12-year-old black male, was refused recess due to an altercation being dealt with “in-house.” When he was told his recess privilege was being taken away the juvenile became disorderly and uncontrollable.
He knocked over several desks and chairs. When a teacher attempted to control the juvenile, so he wouldn’t hurt himself, the juvenile push and kick the teacher until TFC Van Bennekum arrived.
The juvenile was arrested and after he calmed down he was escorted from the building between classes as to not cause any further disturbances in the school. He was taken to the State Police Barracks, processed and released to his mother pending disposition by Juvenile Justice Authorities.
