Alma Theresa Thompson, 85, of Hollywood, MD, died April 29, 2006 at her home.

Born April 21, 1921 in Compton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Leonard S. and Minnie Leach Alvey. She was born in the Manor House on Newtowne Manor and lived there until the family moved to Greenbrier in Leonardtown.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, working in her yard, walking, going to church and helping children at church and school. She was a playground monitor at Hollywood Elementary School for many years.

She is survived by three sons, John W. Thompson and his wife Gisela of Upper Marlboro, MD, F. Courtney Thompson and his wife Kay of Mechanicsville, MD and Thomas L. Thompson of Hollywood, MD. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Timothy Thompson, Rene Basham, Cassandra Thompson, Christopher Thompson, Amanda Thompson and five great grandchildren, Natalie and Katie Basham, Kevin Raley, Kaylie Thompson and Abigail Goelling. She is survived by one sister, Eleanor Raley of Compton, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamen S. Thompson , her son, James Ronald Thompson, a sister, Rosalie Longmore and three brothers, James Leach Alvey, Jesuit Brother Stephen Alvey and John Louis Alvey.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 3, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 p.m. Pastor David Sparks will conduct the service. Inurnment will be private.
