A Memorial Service
Barbara Jane Estey, 77, of Lusby, MD passed away September 7, 2014 at Solomons Nursing Center in Solomons, MD, surrounded by her loving family.
Born February 8, 1937 in Boston, MA, she is the daughter of the late Cecil Arnot Victor Fisher and Millicent Mayhew Fisher.
In 1954, Barbara graduated from Brighton High School. She earned her Associates Degree in Accounting from Johnson and Wales University. She was employed as a bookkeeper from 1954 to 1997 with various companies. She took a nine year break from work to spend time with and raise her young children. She retired from R. F. Simmons Jewelry in 1997. She was also a certified bartender. She enjoyed nature in which she grew a bountiful vegetable garden and beautiful flower gardens, with her favorite flower being the yellow rose and lily of the valley. She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds. Her hobbies included going to BINGO, gambling in the casinos, dining out, and travelling, with her favorite travels including, Aruba, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket. She liked to go see lighthouses and had a beautiful collection. She was also an avid reader, enjoying mystery’s and true crimes. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Barbara is survived by her children, William L. Estey of Nashville, TN, Beverly Jean Brunelle of Woonsocket, RI, and Deborah Elaine Hamel of San Antonio, TX; her sisters, Marjory Browning of Lusby, MD and Martha Clarke of Lusby, MD; 2 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard Fisher.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Olivet United Methodist Church, 13575 Olivet Road, Lusby, MD 20657.
