Benjamin Herman Flerlage, Sr., 69, of Waldorf, MD passed away at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC on Wednesday, May 28, 2013.

He was born on April 26, 1944 in LaPlata, MD to the late Herman Flerlage and the late Gertrude Goldsmith Flerlage.

Benjamin was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Billy Flerlage and August Flerlage.

Benjamin is survived by his sons, Benjamin H. Flerlage, Jr., daughter-in-law, Ann Marie Pirner, Robert L. Flerlage, fiancee, Betty Nimmerrichter, brothers, Anthony Flerlage, Carl Flerlage, sisters, Mary Ullman, Helen Mayo, grandchildren, Rebecca Ann Pirner, Benjamin M. Pirner, Vidilia E. Flerlage, Sarah Flerlage, Lilly Flerlage, best friends, Roy Lusby, Gary Gilroy, and many other relatives and friends.

Benjamin was an Equipment Operator at Southern Maryland Electric (SMECO). He enjoyed his family and his fiancee Betty, along with antique tractor pulls, dogs, gardening and cutting grass. Big Ben’s Towing & Recovery was named after him. Benjamin and Betty enjoyed their Friday and Sunday dancing with Billy Hill at St. Mary’s Landing. He was a member of The Southern Maryland Antiques Power Association, Inc.

Family and friends will be received for Benjamin’s Life Celebration on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 2:00PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 Pm to 8:00 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. There will be a Service, on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at St. Mary’s Bryantown Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617 at 12:00 PM with Father Rory Conley officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3165 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20604.
