Catherine Margaret “Granny” McMonagle, 90 of Leonardtown, MD and formerly of Philadelphia, PA died November 23, 2008 at the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore, MD. Born October 24, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Palmer John and Ella Catherine Coghlan Holland. She was the loving wife of the late James McMonagle who preceded her in death in 1973 in Leonardtown, MD and her first husband, the late John McFadden. She is survived by her son John McFadden of Leonardtown, MD, her grandsons John and Greg McFadden, her siblings James Holland of Tucson, AZ and Delores Vandergrift of Cape May, NJ and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings John Holland, Rosemary Ritchie and Charles Holland. She moved to St. Mary’s County in 1983 from Quakertown, PA and was a lab specialist for Leeds & Northrup for 44 years. She belonged to the St. Mary’s Women’s Club and the St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 30, 2008 from 2:00-5:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 1, 2008 at 10:00 AM in Patuxent Presbyterian Church, California, MD with Rev. Michael Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be John McFadden, Greg McFadden, Hilary Copsey, John McFadden, Casey Copsey and Ted Tate.
