Charles Edward ?Lee? King of Mechanicsville, Maryland died at his residence on Saturday, July 15, 2006. He was 79 years old.

Born July 27, 1926 in Silver Hill, Maryland to the late Elsie Mae and Charles Howard King. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a Military Police Officer. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He was Honorably Discharge in 1946 at the rank of Sergeant. He then worked as a bus driver for the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority for thirty years before retiring. After retiring, Mr. King then worked for eight years at Brandywine Auto Parts, delivering parts all over the state of Maryland. He worked later at the Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, Maryland. In his spare time, Mr. King enjoyed going to the Northern Senior Center in Charlotte Hall, MD, crabbing, and meeting with his friends, ?The Tuesday Night Chicken Club? at the St. Mary?s Landing, as in Charlotte Hall. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Hughesville, MD.

In addition to his parents, Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife Frances E. ?Fran? King; daughter Kathleen Ann King; grandson Michael King.

He is survived by his children and their spouses Charles Edward ?Eddie” King II and his wife Janice, Thomas Daryl ?Tom? King and his wife Margaret, Peggy Elaine Thomas and her husband Elbert, Lawrence Wade ?Larry? King and his wife Jan; sister; Margaret Grierson; brothers George King, Herbert “Tony” King, Robert King, Ronald King, William King, Kenneth King and Richard King; grandchildren Thomas ?Tommy? King Jr., Charles E. ?Chip? Thomas II, Stacy Lynn King and Dawn Leigh Thomas; great grandchildren Brittany King and Kyle King.

Family to receive friends on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 from 5-8PM with Services at 7PM with the Reverend Phil Ayers officiating at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Rd. Charlotte Hall, Maryland. Interment 10AM Thursday, July 20, 2006 at Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, MD procession to leave the funeral home at 9AM. Pallbearers are grandson Tommy King, son-in-law Elbert Thomas, grandson Chip Thomas, family friends Philip Taylor, Thomas Roach and Vernon Thomas.
