Charles Lewis Montgomery, 84, of Leesburg, GA. passed away on December 7, 2009. Mr. Montgomery was a World War II Navy Veteran and was retired from AT&T in Washington D.C. He was a good and true friend and neighbor. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Montgomery was born in Rockwood, TN. He grew up in Jesup, GA. His job took him to Cape Canaveral, then Washington D.C. Upon retirement, he moved back to his beloved Georgia. Mr. Montgomery was preceded in death by his wife, June (Ellis) Montgomery, his parents, Roger W. Montgomery and Avie (Martin) Montgomery of Jesup, GA. Four brothers and two sisters. He has two surviving sisters, Mrs. Joan Scoggins of Cairo, GA and Mrs. Thelma Johnson of Jesup, GA. Mr. Montgomery is the father of six daughters; Mrs. James (Johnne) Sizemore, Ms. Peggy Anne Poole, Mrs. Steve (Cheryl) Dyes, Mrs. Ricky (Connie) Spence, Mrs. Michael (Charlene) Rotowski, Ms. Patricia Montgomery and one son, Roger (Phyllis) Montgomery. He leaves fourteen adoring grandchildren and sixtenn great-grandchildren. The funeal service will be Wednesday at 11 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Roger Montgomery will officiate. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 11, 2009 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm at Arehart-Echols Funreal Home in La Plata, MD. A commital service will follow Friday at 2:30 pm at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
