Delia Costa Finley, 102, of La Plata died Aug. 12, 2004, at Genesis ElderCare, La Plata. She was a homemaker who came to the United States from South America in 1916. She lived in North Carolina and Washington, D.C., before moving to Waldorf. She was one of six children. She loved gardening and animals. Born July 20, 1902 in Uruguay, she was the daughter of the late Jose Costa and the late Aurelia Costa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sprague O. Finley; sons, Louis Finley and Richard Finley; and daughters, Margaret Rodgers, Lilly Hodges and Jeanette Winters. She is survived by her sons, James Finley of Nanjemoy, Kenneth Finely of Chaptico and Joseph Finley of Norfolk, Va.; daughter, Sue Collins of Pisgah; 36 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation was held Aug.13 at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata. Services were held Aug.14 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata. Burial will take place Aug.31 at 11 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. The Rev. Robert Golas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gregg Finley, Ray Finley Jr., Robert Finley, James Finley, Jerry Moreland and Charles Moreland. Arrangements are being handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home.
