Dorothy Alice “Dot” Deane, 76, of POrt Tobacco, a longtime resident of Punta Gorda, Fla., died Aug. 3 2003, at Chalres County Nursing and Rehabilition Center, La Plata, from lung cancer. She was a homemaker. She came from the Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., area. She worked at GC Murphy’s in Annadale, Va. She loved painting, gardening and collecting teddy bears. Born July 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Willard Savary and the late Ida Chichester Savary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandchild, Brandi Tucker and brother, John Savary, Calvert Savary, Richard Savary and Clarence Savary. She is survived by her son, Ted Deane of Montross, Va.; daughters, Linda Burch of Port Tobacco and Deborah Zagrodnichek of Altamonte Spring, Fla.; sisters, Geri Wallace of North Carolina and Cleo Ziebel of Tennessee; brother-in-law, Gordon Ziebel; daughter-in-law, Gloria Deane; son-in-law, Joe Burch and John Zagrodnichek; grandchildren, Christopher Deane, Joseph Deane, Tanya Smoot, Milissa Zagrodnichek, Jonnie McCullough, Leah Burch and Chasity Tucker; and great-grandchildren, Heather Deane, JL Roberson, AJ McCullough, Skylynn McCullough and Trysta Li Thomas. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 6 at Mount Comfort Cemetery Chapel, Alexandria, Va., with burial to follow at the cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata.
