86, of La Plata
Dorothy Faye Jump, 86, of La Plata, MD and Sun City Center, Florida died Feb. 8. 2004 at Civista Medical Center, La Plata. She was a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and a dedicated teacher, who taught music and English in the public schools of Ohio for many years. She was an avid golfer, as well as a devoted homemaker who raised five children. Her artistic abilities were numerous, and she created many beautifully detailed items for her family, including countless ewquisite doll clothers, children’s costumes and clothing, and home furnishings. When she and her husband retired to Florida in 1979, she took up painting and won several local awards for her watercolor paintings. She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church. Born August 28, 1917 in Willard, Ohio, she is the daughter of the late Robert Lee Lindsey and the late Nellie Elizabeth Lindsey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vera Kelley, of Dayton, Ohio. She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, David William Bill Jump; her sister, Marian Lindsey Nein of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Margaret Peterson of La Plata and Virginia Tony of Darnestown, Maryland; son, William Jump of Aptos, California, Thomas Jump of Denver, Colorado, Jeffrey Jump of Columbus, Ohio; daughters-in-law Judi Jump and Marie Jump; sons-in-law Michael Tony and Lenard Peterson; and grandchildren Elizabeth Castner, David Tony, Alex Jump, Marcus Jump, Tyler Jump, Christopher Jump, and Camille Jump. Pallbearers will be lenard Peterson, Michael Tony, David Tony, Michael Wertheim, Marcus Jump, and Alex Jump. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. February 12 at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata, where the service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 13. Burial will take place at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, CHeltenham. Arrangements are being handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata.
