Elizabeth Cox Dufresne, 78, of Clements, MD died July 26, 2006 unexpectantly at her home.

Mrs. Dufresne was born May 21, 1928 in Double Springs, AL, was raised in Alabama, lived in various cities in the Northeast including Washington, D.C., and moved to Maryland where she first lived in Chaptico and then Clements where she resided for the past 25 years. She received her Bachelor?s degree in Music, later earned a Masters degree in Public Administration, and taught at George Washington University. She has long been very active in public affairs and community causes as well as being very involved in the Unitarian Universalist Church. She was President of the Board of Directors of the Community College when the new campus was dedicated, was past President of the St. Mary?s County Garden Club, and was an active member of the Major William Thomas Chapter of the D.A.R.

She is survived by her sister, Cannie Cox of Gadsden, AL and her son, John Cox, his wife Mindy, and grandchildren David and Melanie Cox.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road in Leonardtown, MD at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2006 followed by her interment at 1:00 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery where her late husband Joseph is buried.

The family request that in lieu of flowers donations in her memory be made to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Southern Maryland and sent to UUFSM, P.O. Box 1703, Leonardtown, MD 20650-1703 specifying that the donation is for the Building Fund.
