Born January 29, 1913 in Hollywood, MD, she was the daughter of the late James and Nettie Lyles Scriber. Mrs. Chappell was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, loved children and was a foster grandparent for the Harmans School in Glen Burnie, MD.
She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Barber of Baltimore, MD, Pamela Chappell of Hagerstown, MD, Sandra Wideman of Atlanta, GA, Linda Hampton of Atlanta, GA, four sisters, Nettie Stevens and Estelle Collins of Hollywood, MD, Civila Crawford of Rockville, MD, Anna Adams of Lexington Park, MD and three brothers, Philip Scriber and Spencer Scriber of Hollywood, MD and Frank Scriber of Lexington Park, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stevans A. Chappell in 1969, a son, Robert Chappell, a sister, Venita Kelly and six brothers, Stansberry, Clarence, Victor, Douglas, Edward and Sander Scriber.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 21, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Eamon Dignan will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
