Eva Louise Dawson, 88 of LaPlata, MD, died on January 23, 2015 at the University of MD Charles Regional Medical Center in LaPlata, MD. She was born on June 1, 1926 in Washington, DC, the daughter of the late Fritz D. Hoffmann and Eva Sweeney Hoffmann. She is also predeceased by her daughter, the late Barbara Cranston, and eight brothers and sisters.
Eva was a homemaker and loved singing, playing bingo and gardening. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Eva enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eva is survived by her husband, William Dawson; daughters, Georgene Quill (John) and Susan Aldstadt (Harry); her sons, Michael Cranston (Sandra) and Stephen Cranston (Sandy); brothers, Frederick Hoffmann and Francis Hoffmann; and sister, Mary Krug; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with prayers at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, LaPlata, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, LaPlata, MD. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
