George Ray “Silverback” Alvey, Jr., 55 of Hollywood, MD passed away on April 17, 2016 in Hollywood, MD. Born October 17, 1960 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of Shirley Viola Bailey Alvey of Hollywood, MD and the late George Ray Alvey, Sr.

George leaves behind his loving and caring wife Nancy Alvey, whom he married on October 17, 1986 in Leonardtown, MD, his dearest daughter Gabrielle Alvey, who loved him dearly, siblings; Sharon (Junior) Cullison of St. Inigoes, MD, Bonnie (Johnny) Alvey of Clements, MD, Linda (Mark) Bourgeois of Valley Lee, MD, Sandy (Marty) Hayden of Avenue, MD, Joe (Brenda) Alvey of Hollywood, MD, Shirl (Jeff) Hagen of Hollywood, MD, Annette (Calvin) Hancock of Mechanicsville, MD, and Karen (Mike) Johnson of Hollywood, MD, brother and sister-in-laws Susan (Howard) Leach of Thomaston, MA and Michael (Theresa) Mazza of Woodbridge, VA as well as 6 nieces, 10 nephews, 7 great nephews, 7 great nieces with 2 great nieces and 1 great nephew on the way. In addition to his father George was preceded in death by a niece.

George was a wonderful and caring husband, father, son, brother, and Uncle, the highlight of his day was his daily call from his one nephew Jeffery to talk about their day and where their next adventure would be, whether it was a trip to the Harley Shop or a bite to eat at their favorite Mexican Restaurant. George enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends, riding his Harley with his brother-in-law Michael and Theresa and working on his recycling material.

He was the most kindhearted person you could ever meet and would literally give the shirt off his back if it were needed, even to a complete stranger. George was a lifelong resident of St. Maryโ€™s County, he graduated from Chopticon high school in 1978 and AIU University with an Associates in Criminal Jusitce, he was an Equipment Operator with the DC Government/DC Air National Guard at Andrews Air Force Base.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD with a Funeral Service held at 1:00PM
Interment will be private.
