George Samuel (Shorty) Krouse, Jr., 69, of Mechanicsville, MD departed this life on Monday, January 25, 2021 at MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. Shorty was born on November 2, 1951 in Washington, DC to the late George S. Krouse, Sr. and Catherine V. (Holt) Krouse.
He was a 1970 graduate of Central High School in Capital Heights, MD. After graduation, Shorty married his longtime love, Rosemary Sepelak, in April 1971. Their love produced two children, Daniel and Dawn. Shorty supported his family as a Training Director of Operating Engineers for Local 77. He enjoyed his job and made many wonderful friends he considered extended family.
He was a caring husband, father and grandfather who loved his family above all else. Spending time together brought him great joy. He enjoyed fishing and never turned down the opportunity to drop a line in the water. He found peace on the banks of a pond, or cruising the waters on a boat.
A man with a heart of gold, great sense of humor and laugh that was contagious. If you had the honor to meet him, you would never forget him. Whether you knew him as George, Shorty, Dad or Grandpa you knew you were special to him. He left his family with many wonderful memories. He will be missed by many, but none as much as his family.
Along with his wife Rosemary Krouse of Mechanicsville, MD, he is survived by his children, Daniel L. Krouse (Christine Knott) of White Plains, MD and Dawn M. Fink (Christopher) of Solomons, MD and four (4) grandchildren, Philip Fink, Jared Fink, Skylar Fink and Lauren Krouse. He is also survived by his siblings Thomas Krouse, Gregory Krouse, Steven Krouse, Leah Massie and Anna Krouse. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Krouse.
The family will receive friends for Shorty’s Life Celebration Memorial Gathering on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Jim Wickham (from Living Word Community Church) at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
