Offenbacher, Hurley Francis, 81 of Solomon?s, formerly of Newport, MD. Died on Sunday, November 12, 2006, at Calvert Memorial Hospital. Mr. Offenbacher was a retired civil engineer with General Services Administration. With the GSA he served as project director for the building of the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. After its completion he served as the construction manager for the East Building at the National Gallery of Art. He retired from the Federal Government in 1984 to Ocean City, West Virginia and finally in Solomon?s where he enjoyed playing golf with his wife and friends. He started his career with the F.B.I. and worked briefly in the private sector with Allied Chemical and Dye. Mr. Offenbacher was a member of the Professionals Engineers Association, National Rifle Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a former member of the American Legion, and Charles County Rotary Club.
Mr. Offenbacher was an infantryman in World War II serving in the Battle of the Bulge and receiving a Bronze Star. He is a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Solomon?s, MD.

He is the son of the late Hurley Franklin and Mary Agnes Offenbacher, and is predeceased by his sons John F. and Peter H. Offenbacher. He is survived by his wife Pat Offenbacher, Daughter; Joanne Michael Harbin, son; Mark C. Offenbacher, son; Michael J. Offenbacher, son, Thomas P. Janet Offenbacher, daughter; Mary Roberts, son; Matthew Offenbacher, daughter; Jean Marie Offenbacher, son; Neal Jeanette Offenbacher, daughter; Laura Offenbacher. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Friends may gather on Friday, November 17, 2006 at 10:30AM at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Chapel Point, MD where a memorial mass will be said at 11AM.
Burial will follow the mass in the church cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American cancer Society or Hospice of Calvert County.
